CERTIFER was selected by SNCF as ISA (Qualified Body) for the assessment of three metric rail lines in France: Blanc-Argent, Cerdagne and Mont-Blanc Express
Following the application of 4th railway package in France aimed at finalizing the opening to competition of the European Union's rail markets, the secondary railway lines are now subject to the “STPG” regulations which address urban public transport systems. As the secondary lines did not initially depend on the STPG decree, a “regularized” safety case must be realized.
“Blanc-argent” is a line of approximately 56 km located in the center of France whose particularity is to have more than 130 level crossings.
The “Cerdagne” line, known as the Yellow Train, is located on Spanish border and culminates at an altitude of 1592m. It enables the transition to the Spanish rail network.
The “Mont-Blanc Express” line is the French section of a single track and metric gauge line connecting France and Switzerland.
As a qualified organization approved by the STRMTG, Certifer's mission is to assess the level of safety of each line as well as their maintenance over time at this safety level.
