CERTIFER is proud to have been supporting the French Tourist Railways (CFT) for more than 15 years as part of independent assessment missions.
Although the vocation of tourist railways is different from conventional rail transport, passenger safety remains the major concern. Thus, tourist train operators, who are often associations and volunteers wishing to share their passion, are subject to regulations providing for safety assessment missions by a third party organisation.
In France, CERTIFER operates in two types of missions: tourist railways using the national rail network which are subject to annual audits and also in the context of independent assessment missions OQA required for all French CFT in the event of modifications to rolling stock or infrastructure.
CERTIFER, committed to the enhancement and preservation of the cultural, historical and tourist heritage, has been involved in these projects since 2004 and has notably assessed the tourist trains of the Aa Valley, Pays de l'Albret, Vélorail and Train du Larzac, Sud des Ardennes, Vivarais, Centre Bretagne and the Loire Valley.
