CERTIFER have been awarded the ISA mission of the metro line project of Dublin (Ireland).
As part of the 2016-2035 Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (Ireland’s National Transport Authority) introduced the construction of a new metro line, the Metrolink Scheme.
Due to open in 2027, the new line will reduce traffic congestion by linking Dublin Airport to the city centre and connecting the other mode of transportation (Dublin Area Rapid Transit, BusConnects and Luas tramway network).
The new MetroLink Scheme will be formed by a 19km north-south urban railway route, that will link Swords to the city centre (Charlemont) in 25 minutes, and the city centre to Dublin Airport in 20 minutes, by mostly running underground.
Selected as the Independent Safety Assessor of this key project for the city of Dublin, CERTIFER will perform a system-wide safety assessment of the Metrolink Scheme - from the design stage to the operation - including rolling stock, power supply, infrastructure, tunneling, IT systems and signalling (CBTC with grade of automation GOA 4) subsystems.
CERTIFER have a long time presence in Dublin, starting with the independent safety assessment of Alstom’s Citadis tramways in 2006: we are very happy to continue the story!
