CERTIFER successfuly completed its Assessment Body mission for the digital brake testing on freight trains, the first IOT-based freight train system designed and implemented by SNCF and TRAXENS

CERTIFER successfully completed its Assessment Body mission for the digital brake testing on freight trains, the first IOT-based freight train system designed and implemented by Fret SNCF and TRAXENS.

Revealed at InnoTrans 2018, the first digital brake testing system for freight trains is the first step towards digitalization of operations. This innovation developed by SNCF will allow a higher level of efficiency as it is twice as fast as conventional brake testing and ease the brake testing.

In this framework, CERTIFER carried out three missions for SNCF and TRAXENS: the first one was the assessment of the rolling stock according to common safety methods in order to verify that the installation of this new brake test system with new sensors will have no impact on safety and performances of brake system. CERTIFER also assessed the impact of the modification of test procedure on the operation (2nd mission). For these two missions, SNCF successfully ensured all the conditions in order to guarantee a high level of safety of these digital brake testing and reliability of test results. The software developed by Traxens has also been assessed by CERTIFER.

The system is now operational and has been officially implemented by SNCF.
