Scheduled to be commissioned on 8 December 2017, the French National Safety Authority EPSF (Etablissement Public de Sécurité Ferroviaire) has given its authorisation to SNCF for the commercial operation of Regio 2N. This new version with a train length of 110m, which offers both a high level of comfort and a high capacity of passengers, will operate at the speed of 160 km per hour in Île-de-France.
SNCF, the railway undertaking, renewed its confidence by choosing only CERTIFER since the first version of Regio 2N. For the successive versions of this train CERTIFER was mandated for the assessment according to Common Safety Methods and the Designated Body for the authorisation for Placing in Service (APIS) in France. On the other hand, Belgorail, who intervened as the Notified Body for Bombardier Transportation, assessed the conformity of this rolling stock according to TSI. Building on its commercial success, a new type of Regio 2N train, that can operate at a speed of 200 km per hour, will be delivered in the upcoming year with the intervention of Certifer for the same scope of mission.
