Certifer Italia has been selected to perform Designated Body, Assessment Body, CCS laboratory and Testing Authority missions in the framework of CZ LOKO's locomotive homologation in Italy.

Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal ordered five EffiShunter 1000 locomotives manufactured by CZ LOKO, one of the largest Czech manufacturers of diesel-electric locomotives and special railway vehicles.

For the first time, CZ LOKO delivered with this contract a new vehicle strictly compliant with European TSI standards. The fully TSI-compliant diesel locomotives will be equipped with 895 kW Caterpillar C32 engines. The locomotives will have a maximum speed of 100 km/h and will be equipped with the Italian train protection system BL3, enabling their use on shunting and mainline operations. The locomotives were delivered at the Udine Depot, where Mercitalia staff has been trained. They will mainly be used for shunting services at freight terminals near Milano, Ravenna and Livorno. The locos are expected to enter mainline service too by the end of 2018.

Certifer Italia was selected by CZ LOKO in order to carry out the assessment in the framework of the homologation processus of these new TSI compliant locomotives.
