CERTIFER ITALIA have been selected by ALSTOM as the Designated Body, Assessment Body, Laboratory for CCS and Testing Authority on the specific application assessment of the on-board signalling system for new Galileo 2 diagnostic train of RFI in Italy.
RETE FERROVIARIA ITALIANA (RFI), the Italian railway infrastructure manager strengthens its network with new Galileo 2 diagnostic vehicles. Manufactured by PLASSER & THEURER , the DIC-80 US measurement vehicle provides diagnostic service through an ultrasonic detection system and is also equipped with Alstom's on-board Control-Command and Signalling system. Aside from verifying the internal integrity of rail and detecting defects and fails on the infrastructure, Galileo 2 introduces the use of satellite positioning system for railway signalling. In fact, in case of defects and fails detection on the infrastructure, the system transmits the DGPS coordinates of defects and operators, equipped with similar DGPS devices, will easily localise defects position.
In this framework, CERTIFER ITALIA carry out the on-board signalling assessment for ALSTOM and is in charge of the specific application assessment of the on-board signalling system SSB SSC/SCMT BL3 for the new diagnostic train.
