Belgorail has been selected by Infrabel for the assessment of the L25N line that will by-pass the town of Mechelen in Belgium.

Following the construction of two new lines and a tunnel under the Brussels-National airport, Infrabel extends the L25N line that will bypass Mechelen. This by-pass project involves the building of several engineering structures, allowing the Thalys to proceed to the Netherlands, and it also includes a major modification of the Mechelen station by modernizing many platform lines.
BELGORAIL has been selected by Infrabel in the framework of this major project in order to carry out the Notified Body (NoBo) mission for the assessment of energy and infrastructure sub-systems and the assessment of structures and accessibility for persons with reduced mobility. Also, selected as the Belgian Designated Body, BELGORAIL will assess the control-command & signalling sub-system in accordance with national rules. BELGORAIL also provides an independent assessment related to the application of the common safety methods. As a NoBo and Independent Safety Assessor, BELGORAIL will assess the signalling system ETCS L1 FS on the extension of the L25N line, implemented by Infrabel.
The commissioning of the project is planned for mid 2019.
