Belgorail have been awarded the EC certification of the Cartagena railway station rehabilitation project in Murcia (Spain).
The historical Cartagena Railway Station, built in 1906, will be on the route of the future Mediterranean Railway Corridor. With the arrival of High-Speed-Line in Cartagena - province of Murcia in South of Spain - the railway station undertakes a renovation works. The project of integral rehabilitation of Cartagena Train Station aims to enhance the value of the historical building while adapting the facilities in order to comply with the European requirements for interoperability. Through these rehabilitation works for both interior and exterior spaces, the architectural values of the building will be restored, modernised and adapted in order to improve the service offered to travellers. The project for the execution of the works is currently being drafted and the start is planned for the third quarter of 2020.
In this framework, Belgorail have been selected by INECO (responsible for the design of the rehabilitation of Cartagena station), to carry out an EC verification and certification of the railway station according to TSI-PRM and TSI Infrastructure.
