CERTIFER successfully completed the Independent Safety Assessment of the second section of West-East line (T2) of Nice Tramway in France.
With the aim of improving the transport offer in the metropolitan area of Nice Côte d'Azur, the 11.3 km and 20 stations West-East tram line will be totally commissioned by end of 2019.
The new line has been inaugurated in July 2018 with Cadam-Magnan section and the 2nd section heading to airport has been commissioned in December. For its urban tramway network, the Métropole selected Citadis X05 trams. Manufactured by Alstom, this new generation of trams is innovative in several aspects. One of the significant innovation is the system of batteries charging, thereby enabling the tramway to run in total autonomy between two stations, thanks to static ground charging system (in 20 seconds in station and during braking phases). Equipped with WIFI access, Citadis X05 also allows a better temperature regulation in the train, heating or air conditioning are solicited only when necessary.
In the framework of this important project for Nice, Certifer acted as French EOQA i.e Independent Safety Assessor and assessed all subsystems: Energy, Signalling, Urban Integration/SLT, Infrastructure (track side/civil works), Rolling Stock and also Global System.
