URBAN INSERTION

Nos domaines d'activités autour de l'insertion urbaine

OUR AREAS OF ACTIVITY AROUND URBAN INSERTION

The city is constantly evolving and continues to develop. The creation of a new public transport system in a city is an upheaval and a source of urban change. This leads to changes in the uses and travel habits of these inhabitants and visitors both for users of this new system and for other users of the city interacting with it.

Statistics show that the majority of events related to trams, tram-train or High Service Level Buses are collisions with third parties. The best way to limit the risk of events related to the creation of a new transport system is to fully integrate this notion of interactions with third parties into the design of the facilities. This is the purpose of our business and our expertise developed at CERTIFER.

Our skills are based on the risks analysis that users of public space potentially run when traveling near a transport system. We assess the level of safety relating to the Urban Insertion of guided public transport on the basis of our various experiences in urban planning and conflict management while verifying compliance with the regulations in force. With that in mind, the most vulnerable users (disabled people, pedestrians, cyclists, new types of mobility such as EDP personal transport vehicles) are at the heart of our risk analyzes.

SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF GUIDED PUBLIC TRANSPORTS

CERTIFER carries out safety assessment missions for guided public transport systems in the technical field of urban insertion of trams, targeting the following elements:

AREAS COVERED BY URBAN INSERTION

Geometry and layout of public space (including stops), ensuring the safety of all users moving towards the tramway (RMV, cyclists, pedestrians).

Junction management: areas where the tram crosses road and pedestrian crossings are critical and must be managed in priority phases.

The management of the signaling system must be put in place to allow great visibility between the tramway and other users of the urban environment, such as drivers and pedestrians.

The skills required to carry out these missions are multiple: technical and regulatory knowledge, know-how of risk analysis related to urban travel and the interpersonal skills of our experts (rigor, confidentiality, integrity, impartiality, clarity, independence and responsibility ).

These skills are accredited to the requirements of NF EN ISO / CEI 17020 standard in the field of "urban insertion of trams". They are also applicable to all guided or non-guided transport systems (BRTs, autonomous vehicles, etc.)

INTEGRATED CONTROL OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT SAFETY (TRAMWAY, BRT ...)

This field of activity calls for the same skills as those which are accredited, but the approach is different. Indeed, this type of mission no longer places us only in the position of evaluator but also of assistance to project owners in mastering the design of their projects. This type of mission allows greater involvement in the design of projects and the search for solutions to cover the risks identified in connection with the urban insertion of the transport system.

SAFETY DIAGNOSIS OF GUIDED PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

This activity makes use of the skills and experience acquired in the field of expertise in guided public transport systems. This is based both on the analysis of the events (accidents or near accidents: emergency braking) of a network and on the analysis of the potential risks induced by the environment. Indeed, the analysis of the accidentology and emergency braking of the past years makes it possible to identify the places at risk of a network. These are then studied in order to identify, for each location, the risk factors and solutions that can be implemented to deal with them.

The diagnosis is then a management tool for planning changes based on the assessment of the safety of the urban insertion of guided public transport.
