CERTIFER successfully completed the Independent Safety Assessment of the new line 3 of Metro Santiago inaugurated this week in Santiago (Chile).

On Tuesday morning, President Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by Minister of Transport Gloria Hutt, inaugurated the new Line 3 of Santiago Metro. Metro de Santiago S.A. awarded CERTIFER for the Independent Safety Assessment of lines 3 and 6, which are both automated metro systems, running without drivers in full automatic mode. After completing the Independent Safety Assessment of line 6, inaugurated one year ago, CERTIFER also finalised the assessment of the second driverless metro, which connects the communes of La Reina and Quilicura.

In the framework of this project, CERTIFER carried out an ISA of the global transit system and several subsystems, including Rolling stock, CBTC, Platform screen doors, Track and catenary, Traction Power, Control Center, Ventilation and fire detection systems.

With 18 undergrounds stations, this new 22 km line of Metro de Santiago will improve the connectivity of the network as the commuting time from Quilicura to La Reina station will take 30 minutes and is expected to benefit to one million habitants.
